This week I’m finally sharing my in depth interview with Dr. Mislankar - she’s a board certified dermatologist who specializes in hair (& skin!) Every week I get so many questions about hair loss whether postpartum or stress induced, and overall tips on hair health - while I love sharing what I do — I often find it best to supplement my story with expert information.
When I decided to write this story, I knew I wanted Dr. Mislankar to be my expert. I’ve loved following her on Instagram and sitting down with her to get all the tips was juicy. Honestly, some of the things truly shocked me and she told me about products that I would have never thought to use, but she swears by.
More on that below.
THIS WEEK’S HIGHS
I’m making moves on a personal project that been on my mind for over a year. I’ve always dreamt of building my own brand and now im deep in the trenches. It’s rewarding work — but so nerve-wrecking taking a chance on yourself.
THIS WEEK’S LOWS
When it felt like we were making a tiny bit of progress on the school front, I think we got hit with our first school illness. Back to middle of the night wakeups and sleeping on the floor. The highs and lows of parenthood (but she’s so worth it <3)

📚 Every Tuesday I still have the same damn answer. I have 1 hour and 12 minutes left in my audiobook for the 3rd ACOTR. If I don’t finish it by next week someone send help.
🍴I am actually super hyped to share about this. I found this bread a year ago and I’m kinda obsessed. It works like a laffa, but it’s thin - still sturdy though and I LOVE the taste. Super low carb, but doesn’t make me miss bread at all. I spent 45 mins on their instagram yesterday saving recipes.
🎲 I finished Ugly Betty and it was so good! Now I’m in the market for a new show - can someone help me find one?!
🛍️ I shared this one my stories, but this in shower body oil is magical. I bought it recently and I love how soft it makes my skin feel. I actually found out about it from a thread on a Facebook group where women shared the ONE product that changed their life — this was a top recommendation so I had to buy it.
🤌 The Kosas BB cream is one of my favorite new tries for 2024. We’re getting into the season of light makeup and this is a good one!
🍦I’m on the hunt for a new protein powder. Traditionally I’ve used the TIU one, but I switched to this one because it has more protein and fewer calories.
My newsletter is my favorite piece of content that I create each week. This is my inner circle and somewhat of a safe space for me. You always heard that using social media to reach your audience is like “renting.” Using email is like “owning.”
With social media, we’re at the mercy of the ever-changing algorithms. With email, I’m able to show up for people who want to hear from me in a way that is reliable.
Thanks for being here besties!
P.S. I love being able to share my goodies with you all in the weekly giveaway. You can find the secret password at the bottom of the email, but there's no rush - enjoy the email. I've worked hard on it :)
🔍️ Hair Loss & What To Do About It
I answer questions about hair loss all the time, and while I’m not an expert - I have access to people who are. So when I sat down with Dr. Mislankar, I collected over a thousand questions from you guys.
Here were the big ones:
What to do about hair loss?
Is my hair loss permanent?
Any natural options?
Can you regrow hair?
Does Nutrafol work? What about red light therapy or Vegamour?
Should I worry about hard water?
Best hairstyles for hair loss?
& SO MUCH MORE. Here we go!
🤝 Are all hair loss types the same? How do I know what kind I have?
There’s basically two different kinds of hair loss: there’s scarring and non-scarring - there’s a difference and it determines how you treat it.
Scarring alopecia is irreversibly destroyed stem cells due to things like Lupus or CCCA.
So in non-scarring alopecia, hair follicles are still preserved with potential for regrowth - the good news is that most people have this kind.
If we break down the non-scarring alopecia there’s two types again: Telogen effluvium and Androgen effluvium. (seriously you guys, I learned so much!)
Telogen is excessive shedding after stress, postpartum, or medication. Androgen can happen due to aging, genetics, and male/female pattern baldness.
So what do I do about it?
Your treatment really depends on the cause.
For Telogen hair loss like postpartum, menopause, illness, or stress, there’s a few options, I’ll get into it below, but if you’re seeing hair loss for an extended period of time — most non scarring alopecia patients can benefit from topical Minoxidil
Interesting, tell me more:
You actually don’t want to use the women’s minoxidil - & here’s why & what you should use instead….
